Terms of service

Version 1, last updated 27 September 2026.

These are the terms for using Thicctory. They are written to be read, not skimmed past. If something in them is unclear, email plates.midlife2j@icloud.com before you agree.

1. Who runs Thicctory

Thicctory is run by Andrei Bodea, one person, as a personal project. “We” and “us” in these terms means Andrei Bodea; “you” means the person with the account. How your data is handled is described in the privacy notice. It explains what happens to your data; it is not part of this contract, and it does not need your agreement to be true.

2. Who can use it

  • You must be 18 or over. Thicctory is for adults, and asks for your date of birth at sign-up to check.
  • One account per person, and it is yours alone: do not share your sign-in.
  • Keep your password safe, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.

3. What Thicctory is, and is not

Thicctory is a training log: it stores what you record — training, body measurements, nutrition, notes — and shows you statistics about it.

It is not medical advice, and nothing in it is a diagnosis, a treatment, or a substitute for a doctor, physiotherapist, dietitian or other qualified professional.

  • Exercise carries a risk of injury. Train within your ability, and speak to a doctor before starting or changing a programme if you have a health condition, an injury, or any doubt.
  • Statistics and estimates — maintenance calories, trends, forecasts — are estimates, and can be wrong.
  • The Diet Planner is intended to help healthy adults with general fitness and weight-management goals estimate calorie and macronutrient targets and track progress. It is not intended to diagnose, prevent, monitor or treat disease or medical conditions, and is not intended as a substitute for professional medical or dietetic care.
  • Do not use the Diet Planner if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have diabetes or another condition affected by what you eat, have or have had an eating disorder, or follow a diet prescribed for a medical reason.

4. Your data

What you log is yours. You give us permission to store and process it only so far as needed to run the service for you — to show it back to you, to calculate your statistics, and to share it with the people you choose to share it with.

Much of what you log is health data. Storing it needs your explicit consent, which is asked for at sign-up separately from these terms, in these words: “I consent to Thicctory storing the health data I log — training, body measurements, nutrition and notes — to provide the service, as described in the privacy notice.” A training log cannot work without this, so withdrawing it means deleting your account, which you can do at any time from Your data.

You can download everything, or delete your account and everything in it, at any time from Your data.

5. The AI features

  • Coach and the Diet Planner are optional. Each asks for its own consent before any of your data is sent to the AI provider, and each can be turned off at any time.
  • AI output can be wrong — including about your own data. Every answer shows what it was based on; check anything you intend to act on.
  • They share a limit of 25 questions a day, so that one person cannot run up costs for everyone.
  • The AI provider may change. If it does, you will be asked for your consent again before anything is sent to the new one.

6. Sharing and community

Routines, training plans and challenges you share are visible to the people you share them with, and a challenge's standings are visible to everyone taking part. Share only what you are happy for them to see.

7. Fair use

You agree not to:

  • try to access anyone else's account or data, or probe the service for ways to;
  • use automated means to sign up, scrape, or send questions to the AI features;
  • upload anything unlawful, or anything that is not yours to upload;
  • harass, deceive or abuse other people through the community features;
  • resell the service, or use it to build a competing one.

If you find a security problem, please report it to plates.midlife2j@icloud.com rather than testing it on other people's data.

  • The Basic plan is free.
  • The Paid plan costs $5.99 a month or $65 a year, charged through Stripe. The first 7 days are a free trial; you are charged when it ends unless you cancel before then.
  • A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the upgrade page; you keep Paid features until the end of the period you have paid for, and are not charged again.
  • If you are a consumer, you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of your first payment. Email us within that time and you will get a full refund.
  • Prices can change. You will be told at least 30 days before a change affects you, and can cancel before it does.
  • Deleting your account cancels your subscription immediately, with no further charge.

9. Changes to the service

Thicctory is a personal project. Features may change, and it may one day close. If it does close, you will be told at least 30 days ahead, with time to download your data, and any unused part of a subscription you have paid for will be refunded.

10. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms in a serious way, or repeatedly — and will tell you why, and give you the chance to download your data, unless the law or someone else's safety prevents it.

11. Our responsibility to you

  • Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow to be limited — and nothing takes away your rights as a consumer.
  • Otherwise, we are responsible for loss you suffer that was a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care, up to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or £100 if that is more.
  • We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, for business losses — the service is for personal use — or for decisions you make about training, diet or health on the basis of what the app shows you.

12. Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a way that matters, you will be told at least 30 days before the change takes effect, and can delete your account before then if you do not agree. Each version is numbered and dated at the top of this page.

13. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts can hear disputes about them. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring proceedings there, and if you live in the EU you keep the protections of your own country's consumer law. Please email first: most things are quicker to sort out that way.
